Rayleigh Vineyard is led by Dave & Laura Smith.

Both Dave & Laura served on pastoral staff at Southend Vineyard for a number of years before feeling called to plant a church in Rayleigh in 2003. Starting in June of that year, they started a small group in a lovely lady’s house based in Rayleigh and on the first evening, the lady’s sister dropped round for a cup of tea and ended up meeting with Jesus.  From there the group steadily grew with ordinary people from all different backgrounds joining and finding a community of love and acceptance.

After multiplying that group into three different housegroups,  Rayleigh Vineyard started to meet on a Sunday morning -initially in someone’s large front room and subsequently to increasingly larger venues to accomodate the growing number of people coming along.

Rayleigh Vineyard now meets in Sweyne School main hall and has about 15 mid week housegroups and focus groups.  As the church has continued to grow and develop, there has been the grace and opportunity to start events to help the community around us, including ministry to those in need, CAP courses, parenting courses, book clubs, youth work, Alpha, childrens activities and many other things.

In establishing the church, Dave and Laura believe passionately in helping people to “do best what they love most” and so are supported by a wonderful team of exceptionally able volunteers, who work hard to deliver the very best at the church.

Rayleigh Vineyard is affiliated to Vineyard Churches UK and is a registered charity (reg. charity number:1152620).  As a family of churches, we are linked to over 100 more Vineyard churches that have been planted in the UK and over a 1000 worldwide.
